The engine pre-docking inspection will assist in defining engine work scope, repairs and overhauls as well as to plan required spare parts delivery ahead of time.
The main engine
pre-docking inspection will provide the operator with the actual work scope of
the engine before dry-docking and recommend the needed spare parts before
completing the DryDock specification
The engine manual will
provide replacing parts time intervals which is not based on actual condition
which can be costly and time consuming. Inspecting the parts can give a clearer
picture of their condition and decide whether to replace or not.
Pre-docking inspection
to take place 2 to 3 months before docking at a normal vessel’s port of call
for not more than up to 48hrs. It
includes checks of Piston underside space, crankcase, fuel pumps etc.
